Also, just because I don't have half a million to spend on a property, I feel as though I wasn't considered an actual, serious or important client. The way my experience with this company from the beginning, it made me feel like my home purchase didn't matter. The offer letters would expire, and I wouldn't hear from Thomas until either many hours later whether or not the offer was accept, countered, or ignored. The last offer letter, I didn't hear until the next day, mid day.
This has been an awful experience. My wife does not cry often but the agent made her. We were told that our offer was refused because the seller did not like the "VA loan or USAA" which is illegal. That is not including the selling agent using us to drive up the price between another buyer he was representing. He messed up and sent us the PDF with the sellers signature that was not meant to go to us. I could go on and on but I do not want to waste the energy. I never, ever leave reviews but I am very angry with this matter. Basically if you are retired military or in the military, do not use this company as their representing agents are not honest and they are about to get on the military business blacklist.
Bottom line...veterans beware. If this is the corporate climate in this company where one agent's behavior is accepted, ignored, or condoned they weren't actually working with or help a veteran purchase a house...I have much concern for the rest of us out there. Charleston area has numerous veteran's who would like to use their VA loan to buy a property and also may like to use USAA...but when you are told in those exact words that is the reason you weren't considered...it is blatant, obvious, out right discrimination.
If you are a veteran go somewhere else!!! This morning I was told at 11:30 am from my buyer's agent, Thomas Harrison, that because I was using my VA loan and because I decided to use my bank,USAA, which is a bank for military members(which I was pre-qualified for) that I was not considered for an offer on the 3rd house I tried to buy using Jeff Cook Realty. I was blatantly discriminated against because I am a veteran - and I say those words because I heard those words used out of the agent's mouth. This is against the Fair Housing Act which is part of Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, codified at 42 U.S.C. 3601-3619 with penalties of violation at 42 U.S.C. 3631. I have a mind, and will, to contact the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development.

There is no way that someone in this town doesn't want to take my money for a house. I refuse to believe it. Why would someone not want a loan that has a home loan guarantee like the VA? That's crazy. My history of payments for all previous homes I owned is nothing but spot on...I paid from an allotment from my military pay each month. I do not have a bad history of previous payments on either rent or a house payment in my entire life.
Jeff is top notch. One of the most learning-based individuals in the industry. His marketing is some of the most progressive and aggressive amongst his peers. No wonder he's #1 team in SC.
What an amazing experience. We had a house fire and decided to try to sell our home as is instead of having to deal with contractors then getting it on the market. We were so impressed with James Olszewski (Jimmy O) We had several offers, but Jimmy always took the time to explain everything in detail and answer any questions we had (at some highly inappropriate hours I might add, many nights I would wake up and text him not expecting to hear from him until the next day, I guess he doesn't know when to leave the office at the office). Our situation is a little unique and while I won't go into detail - I can say that Jimmy reached out to us personally to get updates on our personal situation and without even knowing if we were going to accept his offer or even move forward he cared enough to pray for us and called/texted many times to ask us about the health of our family in Georgia. I am amazed at what a truly caring person he is, I just can't say enough about how much he eased a very stressful situation. I turned in my resignation at work a week prior to our closing with Titan (we weren't just selling our home but also leaving the area and the contract on our current house in Georgia depended on the closing to go through) and as I drove home that night I called him around 6:30 absolutely in panic mode. I was practically hyperventilating - he didn't make me feel like a crazy lady - he listened to me, he assured me everything was okay and that we had his word everything would go smoothly. He assured me I could relax and start planning our new adventure in Georgia. I have never worked with such a compassionate, professional, caring person. If you want the best please call him first. Jimmy, from the bottom of our hearts we thank you for making a stressful time so much less stressful. You truly go the extra mile!!!!
Even after I told him I was parting ways with him because I felt as though I was not getting the appropriate customer service, he had their preferred lender call me to try to "talk me into" using their services instead of my bank. Why should the buyer care where the money comes from, as long as they walk out of closing with a check? I believe he had them call me because there is a kick back for using the preferred lender, and they were trying to dissuade me from using my bank of choice.
I went out to look at several properties with Thomas, and put in 3 offers - or at least I thought I put in 3 offers. I have reasonable doubt that what actually happened was that my offers were used to help drive up the price for his other buyers he represents so that they would offer more money on the home above list price, and I was never even considered a buyer at all just so the agent would bring in more commission. I really and truly believe my offers never left the email. I feel as though I was used to find decent properties for "other buyers" Thomas represented, and that was it. I located most of the properties on Trulia or Zillow myself and emailed him to ask if we could view them. Then we would walk through, I would point out all of the good points of these properties at this price point. The only thing that will change my mind on whether or not my offers were actually sent out is to see with my own eyes the email server traffic with a time and date stamp.
