Well, my wife and I were at your hospital on 12-31-17 because my wife was in bad pain because she had a bad tooth. We know y’all couldn’t pull it or do a lot but you could relieve her pain and get her on antibiotics and pain meds. We always, always go to Summerville Hospital, just look at our records. But on 12-31-17, the ER nurse was either having a bad day herself or something and she took it out on us. If it wasn’t that we needed help I would have walked out. I didn’t get her name but for some reason she must have told all the other nurses about it and they were avoiding us like the plague. As they were walking by our small room, they couldn’t even look our way, so something was said about us. I will make sure that I let all my fb family and friends know about my experience we had. I will still continue to go there for all my ER needs but y’all need to correct your staff.
Very outdated, under staffed, Semi private rooms with bath tubs. Shared toilet with sick ROOMMATE and and her visitors. GROSS. HEPA LAW CAN'T BE Implemented due TO NON PRIVATE rooms. LOW SECURITY. FELT UNSAFE. HAD TO PUSH CALL button FOR ROOMMATE ALL NIGHT LONG DUE HER inability. Requested another room but was simply escorted to walk out of room to set outside of elevator "For a break" from unconsolable roommate". I was in with possible heart attack issue. Thank God I tested fine and was able to go home.
Great care from registration until the time I left. Nurses In ambulatory and operating room were warm, friendly and proficient with their jobs.
Do not use their pediatric ER! I have had all my babies here. Labor and delivery is fine. I've never had an issue with myself there, but I will never again use them for my kids. They have never been right when it comes to the kids. I went there 2 nights ago because my son had been having stomach problems for almost 2 weeks and it kept getting worse. They took xrays and checked his urine, said nothing was wrong except a stomach bug that wouldn't give up. Gave us some zofran and sent us home. They were very nice... But the next night he was doubled over screaming. We went to MUSC children's after hours right around the corner, had another xray done and found out he was extremely constipated and the diarrhea he was having was all that could fit around the blockage! How did they not see that at Summerville??? And then prescribe him something that can cause constipation! He could have blown his bowels. That was the last straw for me. And it's not the first time. When he was 9 months they gave him a cast on his leg that left a welt on his heel almost to the bone. He is 6 now and still has a scar from it. Go to MUSC around the corner. It's faster and all around better
My wife and I needed to take our new born son to the pediatric ward. We were very nervous about this and they put us at ease. I was very impressed with the nurses, doctors, and staff at the hospital. Our room was clean and all our questions were answered during our stay. As a nurse myself, I really appreciated the time the nurses and doctors took to explain the plan of care and educate us. If you have a son or daughter who needs to go to the pediatric unit then I highly recommend this hospital.
