What did happen is the younger co-pastor left his father to fend for the church issues. Not once did the younger pastor grant an audience to the church members that wanted to see a healing process. He bailed ship (to return after the "riff raff" left... which was well over 80 people). His father defended this co-pastor's (his son's) indiscretions and unfortunately spent much time spin-doctoring the events; refusing to acknowledge the tangible evidence brought forth.
I need more stars!
Be certain, the abundant love you do experience are from the remaining church members. There are amazing hearts in there ---however, those amazing hearts stop with the Pastor/leadership.
Healing could have occurred but they chose to get angry and divide. God could have used this as a powerful testimony but their pride, control and financial goals are the thorns in their sides.
I can not say enough about this church. From the first day that I walked into those doors, I felt at home, accepted, and loved. The pastors make it a priority to make connections and friendships with the congregation, and we are all truly a big family who has so much fun together and most importantly prays fervently for one another. I've never experienced the Holy Spirit constantly move throughout a service (especially over the past few months) like I do here. If you're looking for a church with great community outreach, opportunities to serve, family fun, amazing bible studies, and lasting friendships, please look no further. We are certainly growing and want you to be a part of it!
I have known Gene Carpenter since my college days. My confidence in him, his ministry and his lifestyle led me to ask him to serve on our board of Final Frontiers when we began in 1986. He still fulfills that function and has been an absolute blessing to us and our worldwide ministry.
Although, it may not have the congregation size that most "churches" may want, they have the most community I have ever seen. The people have the most beautiful hearts and two of the greatest pastors that are so real and upfront with you. This church really is a "meet you where you are" quota. In my time at Palmettoland, they have never led me astray, but more so, helped me receive convictions that are so deep and overcome so much brokenness from this earthly life. Even after a split in the people (who have now taken their views elsewhere and the negativity within the congregation has ceased) caused by lust of power and lack of faith, the pastors remained faithful, honest and humble and the congregation completely relying on faith and the abundance of the Lord - also, abiding by all rules and commandments of the bible - including not challenging their brothers and sisters in Christ. This community has gone through a growing process unlike no other that I have witnessed, in fact, the ugliness of neighboring communities has proven "turn the other cheek" to be so prominent and forgiveness without resentment to be so true. I love Palmettoland and hope that anyone who is searching for a family to join (realize that I did not say church), whether you are lost, broken, in need of spiritual rebirth, reconnecting with faith, or a strong foundation to lean upon, Palmettoland Baptist would be on the list of "try me's."
The counsel I have received from him is boundless and his faithfulness to me as a friend has sustained me in my dark days. To the church members I would say keep on. No ministry or man achieves greatness without going through trials and the greater the trail, the greater the victory.
Possible one of the hardest things I witnessed was seeing the downfall of this “House of God”. There is no sheapard to the flock, only power hungry individuals who put blame on everyone except themselves. God used to bless this church, but that time has passed.
By the end of 2016, there was such a distressing downfall of this church due to leadership nepotism. There is no slander as there is ample, tangible proof of events. Many people choose to keep their heads in the sand at this point, which is unfortunate.
Time is short, busy yourselves in the Lord's work, all the rest will pass away.
When I visited you a few weeks ago it was to encourage you and your pastors but in the end, it was I who was encouraged. God bless you all. Stay faithful, ignore the attacks of the Enemy of our God, the "Accuser" who works most effectively through the slander of our brothers and sisters, and keep on the right track. Great days are ahead of you.
With caution, if you choose to worship at this facility, understand as long as you pay up and shut up, you are in good standing. The moment you ask sincere questions, you are considered a trouble maker.
